The power requirement of the Wellcom Boost system uses a single phase pump for boosting the pressure of the liquid phase only. The power requirement for such a pump is a fraction of that used for a traditional multiphase pump which has to boost the pressure of both LP gas and liquid phases. Power requirement for MP pumps is in the range of several hundred watts to a few megawatts (Mw), while the power requirement for the Wellcom Boost for similar boosting duties is in the range of a few tens to a few hundred Kw. In many platforms high power needed by MP pump is not available and its provision involves a major capital and operation expenditure.
