WELLCOM Gas Jet Pump Restores Production from Low Pressure Gas Well

Customer

AGIP Spa, Spilamberto Field, Italy

Product

A WELLCOM gas jet pump was specially designed and supplied by Caltec to boost the pressure and flow of LP gas, utilising energy from a nearby HP gas well.

Problem

A gas well still had substantial reserves of gas in place but had ceased to produce due to watering out and a low flowing wellhead pressure. These were preventing the well from producing into the production manifold.

Objectives

To utilise high pressure gas from a nearby high pressure gas well to restart the low pressure gas flow by handling the accumulated liquids, and boosting its pressure to enable it to produce into the production manifold.

Approach

Data was provided from AGIP concerning the gas pressures and flow rates available, enabling a feasibility study to be performed. Caltec's engineers completed the study and confirmed that a customised WELLCOM jet pump would meet the application's needs.

Caltec completed the design work for the contract using its purpose built software, which optimises the design performance of the jet pump for given application conditions, and was awarded a contract to design and build the jet pump.

Outcome

The customised WELLCOM Gas jet pump was installed with the following results: 1. The standing liquid column was cleared from the well. 2. The well produced 21000cubic metres of gas a day into the production manifold.

As shown by the above graph, the well would flow then stop due to water production and the lack of flowing wellhead pressure. After the installation, continuous production was established at 21,000 cubic metres per day and has remained at that level since then.
