Technology

Our know-how and technology work together to make the most of your existing infrastructure.

Surface jet pump technology is not new; it dates back to the mid-1800s. The first ‘injector’ (or ejector or eductor) was invented by the French engineer Henri Giffard in 1852, who was commemorated as one of 72 scientists, mathematicians and engineers whose names were engraved on the Eiffel Tower. More than 160 years later, similar technologies are in use in a huge range of industries, including refrigeration, vacuum, nuclear, chemicals and oil and gas.

Caltec’s fluid dynamics experts have studied and documented the science behind the surface jet pump, and have made improvements to its design and performance as well as extended its range of applications, particularly into multi-phase applications.

Our deep understanding of the science, as well as of oil and gas production process systems, means that we are able to design and predict performance of the technology – not just in theory, but how they will Work in the Field, developing unique and proven models for hydrocarbons.

Our own origins stretch back almost seventy years – and our Technology Officers each have more than 20 years’ experience in the fluid dynamics and the oil and gas industry. We own 38 patents and have collected 9 awards since 2004. Our patents and awards cover a number of technology, system and applications, ranging from the components used (such as the I-SEP(R)), to how these are used in specific configurations to enhance effectiveness, stability and control of process, to the application of whole systems.

Compact Separation
Compact Separation

Caltec has developed and patented our own I-SEP® compact separation technologies which can be used to separate two phases of differing density of liquids and/or solids.
